FAQ

Is there a difference between Ma’s Trial, Ma’s Standard, and Ma’s Premium?

The main differences are the use of medicinal herbs and the length of the meal service.

Ma’s Trial is intended for customers who would like to try our meals before committing to a full package. These meals are prepared without medicinal herbs, making them suitable for pregnant customers. While the herbs are omitted, the taste, portion size, and cooking style remain the same, allowing you to experience an authentic preview of our postpartum meals.

Ma’s Standard (14-day Package) and Ma’s Premium (30-day Package) include medicinal herbs and are designed to support postpartum recovery. Each week focuses on a specific stage of healing, with new ingredients introduced weekly to better nourish the body throughout the recovery process.

Portion sizes are the same across all three options for daily delivery; the difference lies in the number of delivery days, with Standard and Premium offering longer-term support.

This structure allows you to choose the option that best fits your needs and level of recovery support.

How are your meals different from other postpartum meal services?

Our meals are rooted in Guangdong-style home cooking and designed to feel nourishing, familiar, and satisfying, rather than restrictive or bland diets.

Unlike many postpartum meal services that rely on lightly seasoned, minimal dishes, we believe recovery meals should be both therapeutic and enjoyable. Our approach emphasizes:

  • Flavorful, everyday comfort foods that taste like real home-cooked meals

  • High-protein dishes to better support strength, healing, and energy

  • Thoughtfully selected medicinal herbs and ingredients that align with different stages of postpartum recovery

  • Substantial, well-balanced meals that leave you feeling truly nourished, not hungry

Instead of a “diet-like” experience, we focus on familiar flavors, blending Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practices with comforting Cantonese cuisine. While postpartum traditions vary across regions in China and there is no single right way, our approach creates a recovery meal plan that supports healing without compromising on joy and satisfaction to every plate.

Why do your meals taste and look like home-style Chinese food?

Because that’s the point!

In Guangdong-style postpartum care, recovery meals are designed to be nourishing, comforting, and familiar, not bland or overly restrictive. The goal is to support healing through everyday foods, thoughtful cooking, and balance, so mothers can eat well and consistently during recovery.

Many of our dishes are finished with a house-made secret sauce created by slowly simmering dried abalone, which adds a naturally rich, umami depth and gives the food a gentle sheen. While the meals may appear glossy, we use very little oil. The richness actually comes from the sauce itself, not heavy cooking fats.

By combining home-style Cantonese cooking with carefully selected ingredients and medicinal herbs (when appropriate), our meals support postpartum recovery while still tasting like real, satisfying Chinese food.

Are these meals only meant for the first 30 days postpartum?

No. While the first 30 days postpartum are an important recovery period, Guangdong-style postpartum meals are designed for consistency and long-term nourishment, not just a fixed confinement window.

Our meals focus on gently nourishing the body over time, allowing mothers to transition back to regular eating without overwhelming their internal system. Because the flavors are familiar and the ingredients are thoughtfully selected, our meals are suitable to enjoy well beyond the 30 days postpartum.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, this style of eating isn’t meant to be limited to postpartum recovery alone, but rather reflects the principles that support everyday health and balance. That’s why our meals are built to sustain, nourish, and support the body even after the confinement period has ended.

Do meals differ for natural vs cesarean birth?

The overall foundation of our meals remains the same for both natural and cesarean births, and focuses on nourishment, strength, and recovery.

Because cesarean recovery often requires extra care, our meals are already prepared with that level of gentleness and balance in mind. This ensures that all mothers receive consistent, nourishing support regardless of delivery method.

What if I don’t plan on breastfeeding?

That’s completely fine! Our meals are designed to support overall postpartum recovery, not just breastfeeding. If you don’t plan to breastfeed, we can exclude ingredients traditionally associated with lactation, such as green papaya, sweet fermented rice wine, or lactation-focused desserts.

Some dishes commonly associated with lactation, such as pig feet soup, are still offered unless you request otherwise. While pig feet are traditionally believed to support milk production, they are also rich in collagen and protein, which can help support tissue repair, joint health, and skin recovery after childbirth.

For lactation desserts, we simply remove the lactation-promoting ingredients while still providing a comforting sweet treat to enjoy during your recovery!

What if I have allergies or dietary restrictions?

At this time, we’re unable to accommodate customers with severe allergies. We operate with a small kitchen team, and all meals are prepared using shared woks, cookware, and utensils. While we thoroughly clean our equipment, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment or eliminate the risk of cross-contamination.

Because of this, we’re unable to prepare separate meals for individual allergy needs. We understand this may be disappointing, and we truly appreciate your understanding. As we grow, we hope to expand our capabilities and offer more customization options in the future.

If you have mild preferences or restrictions, feel free to reach out to info@masoasis.com and we’re happy to discuss what may be possible.

Are your meals shareable?

Yes! While our meals are designed specifically for postpartum mothers, they are generous in size. Many of our customers have shared their meals with partners or family members and found them satisfying for more than one person.

What is your delivery time window?

Our standard delivery window is 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

  • For customers within the San Gabriel Valley (SGV), deliveries typically arrive between

     8:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

  • For customers outside of SGV, deliveries usually arrive between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

Customers will receive a daily text message notifying them before our driver is on the way.

Please note that due to LA traffic conditions, we cannot guarantee an exact delivery time or that every delivery will always fall within the expected window.

What if I live outside of SGV, do you still deliver?

Please contact us at info@masoasis.com to check if we can deliver to your location. Depending on where you are, we may or may not be able to service your area.

If delivery is available, additional delivery fees will apply.

When should I place an order?

You can place an order anytime! Please fill out a reservation form here, which allows us to review your details, including location, due date, and any allergy or dietary restrictions.

Once we confirm that we can accommodate your needs, we’ll reach out via text or email with the next steps to proceed with your order.

What are your payment options?

At this time, we accept Zelle only for payments.

We’re a small, growing business, and using Zelle allows us to keep our operations simple and costs low while continuing to focus on high-quality ingredients and careful preparation. We are actively exploring additional payment options and hope to offer more forms of payment in the future.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we grow.

Why choose us?

Because we believe postpartum meals should feel like real nourishment, not a restriction.

Our meals are rooted in home-style Guangdong cooking, thoughtfully prepared to support postpartum recovery while remaining comforting, flavorful, and satisfying. We focus on quality proteins, balanced portions, and carefully selected ingredients, with medicinal herbs incorporated intentionally based on the stage of recovery.

Unlike many postpartum services that feel bland or diet-like, we prioritize food that mothers can look forward to eating every day. We prepare meals that restore strength, support healing, and bring a sense of comfort during an important recovery period.

At Ma’s Oasis, we care deeply about the details, because mothers deserve care too.
