Our Story

Ma’s Oasis was founded by Alice Tang with a mission to help mothers heal after childbirth through traditional Chinese postpartum meals. Recognizing a gap in postnatal care, Alice saw how easily a mother’s well-being can be overlooked as all focus shifts to the newborn. Her message is simple but powerful: because mothers matter too. Ma’s Oasis is here to celebrate, support, and nurture them on their journey to recovery.

Inspired by Tradition

Ma’s Oasis was born from Alice’s personal journey through postpartum recovery and the practice of Zuo Yue Zi (Chinese Postpartum Confinement). After enduring a grueling 40-hour labor and emergency C-section, Alice returned home physically and emotionally exhausted. What helped her heal was the care of her family and the traditions of Zuo Yue Zi.

A Healing Experience

Alice followed the practices of Zuo Yue Zi such as staying warm, avoiding showers, and most importantly, nourishing herself with fresh, nutrient-dense meals. Alice saw remarkable improvements within just a week. Her incision pain eased, her mood lifted, her milk supply increased, and despite sleepless nights, she felt surprisingly energized. 

What We Believe

At Ma’s Oasis, we know that caring for a newborn is both beautiful and incredibly demanding. In the whirlwind of motherhood, it’s easy for moms to forget to care for themselves. That’s why we’re here to take one thing off their plate by offering something nourishing to fill it. Our goal is to provide the support every mother deserves.

Alice Tang

Founder & CEO

Meet Alice, our CEO and passionate postpartum foodie-in-chief. Her secret sauce for leadership? A dash of empathy, a pinch of humor, and a whole lot of heart. With her family by her side, she whipped up the perfect team to turn her idea into a recipe for success. Led by Alice, every part of Ma’s Oasis comes out perfectly seasoned and ready to serve. When she’s not feeding hungry moms, she’s attempting to win over her toughest customer: her picky two year old daughter.

Angela Tang

Partner & COO

Meet Angela, the master chef of operations who makes sure everything behind the scenes runs smoother than melted butter. She’s always ready to jump in wherever is needed, whether it’s slicing through complicated logistics or stirring together a last minute plan. Angela is the secret ingredient that makes sure every detail is cooked to perfection while keeping the big picture on boil. Off the clock, Angela is determined to grow plants that stick around longer than two weeks.

Chef Jiang

Head Chef/Yuesao

Meet Chef Jiang aka the Comfort Cuisine Queen! After surviving over a decade of restaurant madness, Mrs. Jiang traded in tasting menus for recovery menus during her time in China. As a certified Yuesao (月嫂), she’s a superhero in an apron using her culinary powers to care for postpartum mothers. Mrs. Jiang has mastered the science of nourishment, the art of seasoning, and the delicate balance between flavor and comfort. Away from the kitchen, you can find Mrs. Jiang collecting the latest LEGO set.

Chef Tang

Sous Chef

Meet Chef Tang, or as we like to call him, the Flavor Whisperer! Legend has it, his taste buds are so finely tuned they can detect a pinch of salt from three tables away. While most people taste food, Mr. Tang experiences it, savoring each flavor like a work of art. His culinary journey began at 17 when he enrolled in culinary school. Today, he is the Saucier Chef at Henry’s Cuisine, where he masters every flavor to perfection. When he's not crafting sauces, you can find him taking long walks, capturing quirky street signs or the perfect sunset.

Sharon Chen

TCM Advisor

Meet Sharon, our Traditional Chinese Medicine advisor and the master of all things yin and yang. With a deep understanding of herbal healing and Eastern nutrition, Sharon helps us create meals that restore balance, support postpartum recovery, and nourish the body from the inside out. Her guidance shapes the way we blend traditional healing principles with modern comfort food. When she's off duty from balancing everyone’s qi, you can find Sharon at the park dancing with her friends, turning the sidewalk into her personal dance floor!

Henry Tu, Co-founder of Henry's Cuisine

Consultant

Meet Henry, our go-to consultant and seasoned pro behind Henry’s Cuisine, a MICHELIN Guide gem in SGV. With over 30 years of experience, Henry is our 24/7 concierge, always ready to sprinkle a little wisdom into every recipe for success. Fun fact: Henry is also Alice & Angela’s dad, so you could say he’s been dishing out guidance since day one. When he’s not running the kitchen or sharing his expertise, you’ll find him embracing his inner tea sommelier, steeping the perfect cup, one pour at a time.
